New Formula-Wetline Extreme Professional Gel Review

Updated: Apr 22, 2023

I had been wanting to try the Wetline Extreme Professional Gel Clear for awhile and finally decided to give it a try. I wasn't able to find the old formula (lime green top), so I decided to go ahead and try the new formula (blue top).

At first I was hesitant to purchase the Wetline Extreme Professional Gel Clear that I bought at Target because I have had so many gels flake after drying. I used my current regimen (See Post July 25, 2020), but only used the Wetline Gel. I used smaller sections than I usually do to make sure I was giving the gel a fair chance. The gel was thicker than I was used to and thought it might be too heavy for my hair. It went on easy once I wet my hair. I have more success when my hair is soaking wet when I apply gels.

My hair immediately reacted to the gel and my curls were springy but tighter. I just new my shrinkage was going to be more than usual. Well, I was right. It didn't seem to take as long for my hair to dry this time, and once my hair was dry, it had a nice hold but not hard and crunchy, and I was still able to lift my hair at the roots with a pick.

I didn't like my hair the first day because my fine texture made my hair look thin. Once I picked out the roots I was much happier. My hair was more shrunken, just a little dry on the ends, and no flakes. I have seen mixed reviews where some people got flakes and some didn't. I tested the gel with the Macadamia Professional Weightless Repair Leave-in Conditioning Mist before putting it on my hair, and the mix was clear without any white balls.

Overall, I was pleased with the results. Next time, I will use a more moisturizing leave-in before I put on the gel. Also, I will be interested in seeing if the gel holds longer than three days.
